Our Program
The Playhouse Nursery School is a home-based preschool program in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania serving families with children ages 24 months to five years.
The program operates year round, with the exception of a winter, spring, and summer break. The Playhouse is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am – 5:30pm.
The group is limited to five children in attendance per day. We can accommodate part time and full time enrollment.
We use an app called Tadpoles to send private notes about your child’s day as well as photos of them at play!
We have a ground floor playroom that is our indoor classroom. We also have a big back yard with ample play space and a garden where we grow veggies flowers and herbs. We take walks on the Cobbs Creek hiking trail, learning about nature and the seasons, and often playing at two nearby playgrounds.

Teacher Erin
Erin is an artist, early childhood educator, and mama to an amazing 13 year old and two felines Fidget and Mustachio.
Erin has over 25 years of experience in the field of Early Childhood Education in a variety of settings from working for individual families as a nanny to teaching in center based classrooms. She has been caring for young learners at The Playhouse since she founded it in 2010.
“I feel as though teaching young children is my calling and it is truly wonderful to be able to synthesize so many passions and interests to provide a space where knowledge can be correlated and joy abounds!”
Erin is also proud to be a Pennsylvania TEACH Scholar and will be graduating from Drexel University in Winter of 2024.

Teacher Brianna
Brianna has been a co-teacher at The Playhouse since Summer of 2022. She is a loving mom of two and has over eight years of experience in Early Childhood Education. Her background in teaching includes other home daycare settings as well as a Montessori early learning program. She provides care that is warm and loving and always had creative projects and playful games on deck for our friends here at The Playhouse.

Our Philosophy
Play is the valuable work of childhood! The Playhouse provides an emergent curriculum that is seasonal and uses the interests of the children as a springboard for providing pre-academic content in an age appropriate way. Programming is developed by assessing the developmental needs of each member of the learning community and following the lead of their interests to provide a myriad of play “invitations”. Using a project-based inquiry approach young learners investigate topics that they are interested in.
